MERSTORY - updated daily | only on

"Pretty cool.
Wind's being a raging jerk,
Love goes where it will after all."

For a mythical just-so story,
that's a surprisingly accurate retelling
of the water cycle.
I hug Aqua
and inhale the scent of the sea in her hair.
"Is great story." I say.

I still don't how to feel about how the things I fear
can be insignificant to others,
while the things I consider commonplace
can sometimes seem to be great feats.

"Now you tell me story," she replies
"Tell me Land story."

Something not too complicated
It's too cold and dark to have to explain
about princesses and kingdoms and social contracts.
So I tell her the story
of the Three Little Pigs.
"Not by the hair on my chinny-chin-chin!"
I say in a tinny voice.
"And I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house down!"
I speak in a gutteral roar.

And at the end of it, Aqua has that familiar
nonplussed expression on her face.
